This
is THE rare and desirable Dickerson-Bergman original 8013 Special Dry Fly
that I have copied numerous times. Built for Ray Bergman's NJ shop and
performs like no other, this rod is simply a dream to cast.
Two differing tips with no-nonsense performance, one casts like the legendary standard 8013, lovely, smooth - living up to Dickerson's most popular taper. The second tip, more powerful and even more to my liking, seems to read your mind and casts where you look - at distances through 65 feet with power and control. Aesthetically I have found that the rods built for Ray Bergman are slightly finer examples of Dickerson's work - the tipping on the wraps is slightly narrower, as are the signature 4 wraps on the butt, giving a subtle refined look to the decoration. As is typical of many Dickerson rods, there is oranging of the varnish and the tips are slightly longer than the butt section, but this rod is all original, full length, straight, solid and ready to fish.
Any Dickerson is hard to find - this is an opportunity to own an extraordinary example.
